  1. 1 cup dry red lentils
  2. 2 cups vegetable broth
  3. ½ cup heavy cream
  4. ½ cup yogurt
  5. 3 tbsps ghee (or butter)
  6. 1 piece fresh ginger (5 cm long), crushed
  7. 1 onion, finely chopped
  8. 1 tomato, chopped
  9. ½ tsp chili powder
  10. ½ tsp turmeric
  11. ½ tsp cumin, ground
  12. 2 garlic cloves
  1. Cover the red lentils with the vegetable broth and let it soak for two hours or until the lentils soak up the liquid. In a heavy pot, add the ghee, onion, ginger, tomato, turmeric, cumin and garlic. Once the onions are soft, add the lentils, heavy cream and yogurt. Cook until the lentils are very soft.
